Shkolnikova Maria A., MD, PhD, Professor of Pediatrics, Scientific Director of Veltischev Research and Clinical Institute for Pediatrics, Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, Moscow, RUSSIAProfessor Maria Shkolnikova is a leading children’s cardiologist in Russia, a scientist and organizer of medical science in Russia. Her research lies in the area of sudden cardiac death, cardiac arrhythmia, cardiac electrophysiology, life-threatening arrhythmias, cardiomyopathy, molecular and genetic mechanisms of arrhythmia, electro-mechanical function of the heart, primary electrical disorders, long QT syndrome, catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia, ICD therapy, anti-arrhythmic drugs, cardiovascular mortality, heart failure, and epidemiology of cardiovascular diseases.
She is the author of over 300 publications, 14 books, and over 35 guidelines of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and the Moscow Department of Health. Professor Maria Shkolnikova is the initiator and core organizer of over 30 All-Russian congresses on pediatric cardiology that are widely known in Russia and abroad. She also serves as a national representative of Russia at AEPC, a board member of the Russian Arrythmology Society, and a member of ESC. Currently, she is a member of the editorial boards of four pediatric journals and two cardiology journals. She also founded one of the largest professional organizations called Association of Children’s Cardiologists of Russia which united over two thousand children’s cardiologists from more than 80 regions of Russia.
